1) Log in to WHM.
2) On the WHM home page, navigate to Server Configuration > Basic cPanel & WHM Setup.
You will see the WHM setup screen, which contains Contact Information, Basic Config and Namerserver information. Mandatory fields are denoted with an asterisk (*).
This screen also contains tabs you may use to isolate certain configuration options. To select a tab, simply click the tab corresponding to the information you wish to view at the top of the screen. Here we go into more detail for the Contact Information and Basic Config tabs.
Fill in the Contact Information fields as per your requirements – they are all optional fields.
These settings are all system-related and they are already configured during installation. You do not need to change these values unless you need to customize them.
This section of the interface allows you to specify nameservers associated with your server. To use this feature, simply enter the nameservers you wish to use as your primary, secondary, tertiary nameservers, and so on.
You can also use the Assign IP address and Add an A entry for this nameserver buttons in order to assign IP address for the corresponding nameserver.
Assign an IP Address
IP addresses are automatically assigned to your nameservers. The IP address your nameserver will use is pulled from your existing IP address pool. If you do not have any IP addresses available, your nameserver will not receive an IP address.
Add an A Entry
A entries allow your nameserver to be resolved to an IP address. A records are required for your nameservers to work properly. To add an A record for a nameserver, follow the steps below:
1) Click the Add an A entry for this nameserver button (see instructions above for navigation steps to get to this point).
A pop-up window will appear.
2) Confirm that the correct IP address appears in the pop-up window. If IP address does not appear, enter it in the appropriate field.
3) Click Add Entry and wait for the confirmation screen.
You have now completed the basic WHM setup. Once you have completed this setup, you do not need to configure your nameservers for each domain you are creating, or adjust other WHM settings like the configuration of your shared IP address. You have also branded the server with your personal information, and provided a host name for the machine.
