Once you have created one or more MySQL databases, you will need to create database users and manage their privileges so that they can access and manage the database. To create a new user account, please follow the steps below:

CREATE A DATABASE USER

1)    Login to cPanel and click on MySQL® Databases in the Databases section.

2)    In the Add New User section, enter a username.

3)    Enter a password in the Password field.

4)    Retype the password in the Password (Again) field.

5)    Click Create User.

MANAGE DATABASE USER PRIVILEGES

Privileges define how a user is able to interact with the database. For example, you can determine whether or not the user can add and delete information.

Define a User’s Privileges

To define a user’s privileges, follow these steps:

1)    Login to cPanel and click on MySQL® Databases in the Databases section.

2)    In the Add User To Database section, please select a user from the User drop-down menu.

3)    From the Database drop-down menu, please select the database to which you wish to allow the user access.

4)    Click Add.

5)    On the MySQL Account Maintenance screen, please select the privileges you wish to grant the user, or select ALL PRIVILEGES.

6)    Click Make Changes.

Modify a User's Privileges

If your user’s privileges have already been defined and now you need to change what that user has access to, follow these steps to modify a user’s privileges:

1)    Login to cPanel and click on MySQL® Databases in the Databases Section.

2)    Click the user’s name in the Current Databases list

3)    On the MySQL Account Maintenance screen, select the actions you wish to allow the user to perform, and deselect the actions you wish to prohibit.

4)    Click Make Changes.

REMOVE USER FROM DATABASE

To stop a user’s access to a database:

1)    Login to cPanel and click on MySQL Databases in the Databases section.

2)    Click the close icon next to the user you wish to delete in the Current Databases table.

3)    If you are sure you want to remove the user’s privileges to manage the database, click Delete User from Database.
