Introduction

This is a reference guide for how to get an end customer's Microsoft tenant setup with a special qualification.

The list of orders allowed per tenant type is shown in the picture below. More details can be found in the link: Sell to specialized industries - Partner Center | Microsoft Learn

Non-profit customer tenant setup

Existing O365 Nonprofit customer

  • If the customer is an existing NFP (non-for-profit) O365 customer, then you are ready to go. Place an order with the existing tenant. Ensure it is linked to Ingram Micro beforehand.

New O365 Nonprofit customer

  • If the customer is a new NFP O365 customer, the customer will need to verify themselves as NFP verified via Nonprofit offers: Register Now (microsoft.com) - this step will also create a new NFP tenant in the process.
  • Until the customer is fully verified, they will not be able to purchase paid subscriptions. The verification process can take 2-5 days but can take up to 20 days.
  • Customer receives confirmation of eligibility for Microsoft’s nonprofit offers via email and notifies partner that registration is complete.

Existing O365 Commercial customer seeking to become Non-profit

  • The customer goes to Nonprofit offers: Sign-in (microsoft.com) and sign in using existing Office 365 tenant credentials.
  • Customer follows prompts to complete nonprofit profile to start the eligibility validation process.
  • Customer’s nonprofit eligibility is validated by Microsoft’s eligibility vetting supplier. The process may take up to 20 business days: the typical turnaround is 2-5 business days.
  • Customer receives confirmation of eligibility for Microsoft’s nonprofit offers via email and notifies partner that registration is complete.

What if I do not know if my customer is already NFP qualified or not?

  • You will need to ask the customer if he/she has already registered with Microsoft directly and has an Office 365 Nonprofit account. If the customer is unsure, you can direct the customer to log in to the Nonprofit Portal here: Nonprofit offers: Sign-in (microsoft.com).

If the customer cannot log in, the customer likely needs to register. Send customer to Get Started to register. You should ask the customer to notify you once he/she receives the validation outcome email from Microsoft.

Education tenant setup

Existing O365 Commercial customer seeking to become Education customer

  • Obtain a trial subscription directly from Microsoft on a commercial tenant. Look for Office 365 A1 for faculty. Click Details and then click Start free trial, as shown in the picture below:

  • Go through the verification wizard.
    • In most cases, completing the wizard gives an immediate approval or denial. However, Microsoft may complete a manual eligibility review and will reach out to you if needed.
  • You can check your status in the M365 admin center. If you do not see a status, it means you still need the trial subscription.

New O365 Education customer

GCC Low setup

  • Essentially the customer, not the reseller, needs to get set up with the correct distinction to have GCC.
  • An existing commercial tenant can never be used for a GCC setup, the customer will need a new tenant.
  • If a GCC customer needs commercial perpetual software this must be placed on a dedicated to commercial tenant.
  • The customer needs to sign up and become approved by Microsoft. While doing so they will need to input the code: a27ac673-9a4c-446c-bd28-280c0bf7cf71into the Existing qualified GCC Partner Tenant GUID field .

  • Microsoft’s verification process may take up to 20 business days: typical turnaround 2-5 business days.
  • Once completed they will receive a code back from Microsoft, this will be needed to place the order within the CMP.
  • Once a GCC code is received, call the Modern Support team at Ingram Micro (Modern Support - Contact Directory), who can confirm that the account is active and connected to Ingram Micro.
